JERZY KOSAŁKA / POLISH POP ART

My project for this year’s Festival is called POLISH POP ART and it is inspired by the work of Claus Oldenburg who would place enlarged everyday objects in public space.

The term pop art, in its American version means popular art. However, by taking into account the context, the Polish version can easily be interpreted as the art of populism.

For my action I have chosen a common item, i.e. a two-step ladder. A seemingly trivial object, in this case has a special meaning, because the words spoken by the person standing on this particular ladder had a special power, which was persuasive, empowering and efficient.
