PIOTR SKIBA / UNTITLED

The installation refers to a functional object from the historic region of Mesopotamia. In Lublin, it appears as a completely abstract modern sculpture.

We are not able to determine its purpose other than artistic pursuits, however its line and precise workmanship seduce the passersby. The installation is made of bent, polished copper sheet with a machine-cut opening. It disturbs the relationship between the function/intended purpose and the form, and therefore also between the intention and workmanship.

Originally, it was created for a specific purpose and context; here, it is completely isolated and minimalistic, however it instils confusion and uncertainty regarding reasons for which the object was placed in urban space.
